An Angel’s Prayer by Clare Kinsella – PAROUSIA Magazine

"Fears of the day, fly away,
And let this maiden rest."
Whispered the angel through the window,
Blue light of twilight on her face,
"Let her fall into mystical dreams,
O night, fall upon her in peace,
Let not one troubled thought pass,
For the night is a world of dreams,
And as folly as fear is during the day,
It is even more so in the quiet of night.
Let her face be serene and renewed,
For the kiss of hope I give at dawn.
Fears of the day, fly away,
And let this maiden rest."
Prayed the angel from her breast,
And so the maiden slept.

NB:
I wrote this poem when I was 17 years old, in 2003. It was recently re-found when sorting through old moving boxes.
